Viagra – is the first and the best known PDE inhibitor used to treat impotence in men. Viagra active ingredient is Sildenafil Citrate and can be found in 25mg, 50mg and 100mg oral tablet. Viagra is a Pfizer product approved by FDA on March 27, 1998.
Bayer Pharmaceuticals has launched, as an alternative to Viagra, Levitra. In August 19, 2003, Levitra was approved by FDA. Levitra active ingredient is named Vardenafil. Levitra is available in 2.5, 5, 10, 20 mg oral tablets.
The latest discovery in erectile dysfunction treatment is Cialis. Lilly ICOS LLC newest ED treatment is based on an active ingredient named Tadalafil. From the clinical studies it looks like Cialis better the Viagra and Levitra. Clinical studies showed that Cialis works faster and have a longer action. Comparing to Viagra, Cialis works 5 times longer.
Cialis was approved by the Food and Drug Administration in November 21, 2003. Due the longer action and better response Cialis is quickly gaining ground.
It looks like Pfizer Viagra sales have fallen each of the five months since Cialis aggressive marketing campaign started. Viagra sales dropped 9.1 percent in April from a year ago.
According to Atlanta-based NDCHealth Corp., Viagra sales dropped 25 percent to $220 million in the first quarter.
